Our Education Programs

We wanted to create classes that gave back the collegiate art experience that we were able to have at a more affordable cost and done in a way that would turn each of our students into individual creators themselves.

The Problem We Saw

With many districts around San Antonio cutting there arts budget as well as being so full that they cannot easily teach the arts - learning how to create and becoming a creator are not easily available.

However when we started New Works we wanted to ensure we could provide not only arts education in small classes that not only would be accessible to beginners but alos that would teach through creating.

The Solution: Education Programs Centered Around Creation

Our students learned how we learned - through creating theatre on our own. The students will learn how to write their own show that they create together aided by us - and then learn based off their interests a certain aspect of design to make the production come to life. They have the ability to learn hard skills through theatre from costume design, set design, or technical skills like light or sound. design. Finally they will put this show on themselves to their families and friends - having not only learned but also created a physical thing they can hold onto long after.

We want to turn our students into creators like us - people who make their own shows and are not afraid to put them on themselves.

When Will These Be Available?

We are currently workshopping our education programs but are always willing to work with anyone who is willing. Currently our classes are aimed at high school to college level students looking to go from actors to creators but we will soon work with younger people.
